What to expect from a Radeon RX 5300 XT
This card sits in the lower part of the range we model. It will run modern titles at 1080p with settings turned down, and it will be the limiting component in almost any pairing — which means there is no sense pairing it with an expensive processor.
If frame rates are disappointing, the card is where an upgrade will help. Nothing else in the system is holding it back.
A narrow memory bus
Relative to its shader count, this card has less memory bandwidth than a balanced design would carry. Our model docks it roughly 6% for it. In practice that penalty grows with resolution: the card holds up at 1080p, where its cache absorbs most requests, and falls off faster than its specification suggests at 1440p and above.
4 GB is this card's real limit
13 of the 16 titles we model exceed 4 GB at 1440p and high settings. On this card memory, not shader throughput, is the thing that will make modern games stutter. Texture quality is the setting to lower first, and it usually costs less visual fidelity than the alternatives.
A note on age
Released in 2019, this card is 7 years old. Beyond raw speed, older hardware misses features newer engines increasingly assume — mesh shaders, hardware ray tracing, and the newest upscalers. A modern title may run worse than these numbers suggest, or refuse to launch, for reasons the model cannot see.
